Hello, I’m Alex Nicholls-Lee.

I’ve been an audiohead for as long as I can remember. Drove my mother crazy wiring up pair upon pair of junk shop speakers. Vinyl all over the floor. And always happiest when in record.

Through a whirlwind decade at Scramble Sound (now No. 8, Soho), I sound designed and mixed global campaigns for Adidas, Pepsi, Nike, Kellogg’s, Babyliss, Cobra etc., and also cut my teeth as Dubbing Editor on several TV dramas and documentaries, including BBC’s Inside Story, a televisual production of The Magic Flute, and an entire series of Delia Smith’s How To Cook. Yay!

In 2008 I was approached by Johnnie Burn and Warren Hamilton to head up Wave Studios’ new Amsterdam facility, where I spent a fabulous 15 years with an amazing and evolving team, and working with top-flight clients on commercials, online content and feature films such as St.George’s Day and Under The Skin.

Friends and family brought me home, and I am now UK based and freelance.

Immersus is my sound design and music composition portfolio.

Core Skills

  • Sound design is all about taste and instinct. And being able translate a brief into actual audio.

If you like my taste and instinct then maybe we can help each other.

  • One of the most under-rated aspects of our industry is directing a voiceover. And doing it empathetically. I have 25 years experience.

VO records can be achieved via Source Connect (Pro or Now), Session Link Pro, on location, or in London.

Zoom or Meet can be run in tandem for clients to participate, feed back and approve.

  • Skilled at splicing and balancing audio rushes (Dialogue, PFX) and shaping patchworks of voiceover takes to improve storytelling.

  • Adept at editing and adapting existing tracks so they WORK to picture.

  • Emotional contours are what makes a film. Bespoke composition on request from 10 to 10000 seconds. Check out my reel in the Work section.

  • Experienced in mixing and levelling content for broadcast, both for television and online.

Experienced in mixing and premixing for cinema, and as re-recording mixer on multiple films.

  • Skilled in noise reduction, word replacement and artefact removal from dialogue.
